Our mission guides every step we take, and our vision shapes the future we strive to create.
THE STORY BEHIND OUR WORK
Since 1977, our journey has continued with the same intention to plant and protect trees.
Bringing People Together for Tree Plantation
The presence of trees defines the health of any landscape. With growing deforestation and urban expansion, many regions have seen a loss of tree cover. Give Me Trees Trust began with the aim of restoring these spaces through tree plantation and conservation. Today, these efforts have transformed over 272,000 hectares of land into green spaces and created 278+ mini forests that support birds, butterflies, mammals, and many native species.
The Founder: The Inspiration Behind Our Path
Swami Prem Parivartan, known affectionately as Peepal Baba, is a passionate environmentalist and the driving force behind one of India’s largest tree-planting movements. His journey with trees began at a young age. By the age of ten, he was already planting trees in his neighbourhood. This hobby quickly blossomed into a lifelong passion.
He is now the founder of Give Me Trees Trust, a fully registered charitable organization headquartered in Delhi. Today, it stands as the largest community-based voluntary tree-planting and conservation movement in India. To date, Peepal Baba and Give Me Trees Trust have planted and facilitated the preservation of approximately 25 million trees. Peepal Baba himself has personally planted over 1.25 crore Peepal trees, along with other varieties such as Banyan, Pilkhan, Jamun, Mango, Neem, Sheesham, and Babool.
He continues to travel across India, inspiring children, social clubs, NGOs, colleges, and other institutions to embrace a love for trees.
Building a Better Future Through Clear Mission & Vision.
Mission
We work to grow indigenous tree cover across rural and urban spaces through plantation and long-term care, while bringing people together through nature education and awareness.
Vision
We envision a future where the land holds far more trees than it does today. Landscapes grow richer with forests and green spaces. Our aim is to bring at least 50% of the country under green cover while caring for trees, wildlife and nature.
